“THE OLIVE BRANCH – MAY & JUNE – 2009”

MAY – Our feet hit the ground running and never stopped except to fill the gas tank. We stopped at Prince of Peace Baptist but they had such a beautiful service all we could fit in was a report and lunch and we had to come back the next week to preach, a double blessing for us. Then it was over to First Baptist in Bel Air for Pastor Mason while he was in Lynchburg, VA.  It is always a joy to share there, you just open the ‘Word of God’ and they devour it.  Then it was up to Calvary Bible Church for Chuck Buettner while he was at his son’s wedding and ‘WOW’ what a day that was.  We met so many new friends and old friends it was like ‘Home-Coming.’  We spoke all day, met some sweet people, and a few cats, had lunch in the Catskills, and even came home with a ‘sock-put-er-on-er’ (don’t ask) what a day!

Our ‘Root & Branch Fellowships’ were well attended and our new meeting in Ephrata, PA that you are praying for had over 20 in attendance. P.T.L!  Ray & Janice Moyer are doing a superb job of getting the word out.  We are concentrating on teaching how to share our faith with our ‘Jewish Friends’ because we feel the time of Jewish persecution and anti-Semitism is on the rise especially in America.  A quote I read recently confirmed that, “The federal crime statistics show that 68% of all the hate crimes committed in the United States in 2007 were against Jewish people, even though they constitute only 1.7% of the population.  U.S. Rep. Chris Smith (R. NJ) said anti-Semitism is “back with a vengeance” and called this time in history “the worst” since the Holocaust.”  That statistic should bother US. Amen?

I have had some absolutely Divine opportunities to share in the Synagogue on Saturday mornings during the Torah studies in the past few months.  I can’t thank you enough for praying at 9:30 am on Saturday mornings.  I had a great opportunity to explain what a true ‘Born-Again Christian’ is and is not as it was stated that ALL ‘Born-Again Christians are anti-Semitic!’  Rabbi G. is retiring and Rabbi R. begins his tenure the first of July.  We will begin our new Torah study on July 11th so please continue to pray that I will be welcome and the doors and windows will remain open. Rabbi P. asked me if we could get together for breakfast in the next few weeks as he has begun studying the NT. Rabbi B. has been in touch with us several times in the last few weeks.  He has officially married Maria and is working on bringing her to America from the Philippines with her daughter ‘Please Pray!’  Doors, windows, sky-lights, portals, oi vey!  I thought you were supposed to slow down a little bit at 64?

JUNE We never took our roller skates off, in fact we never even stopped for diesel, we just rolled right into June non-stop.  Roller skates, how is that for giving away your age, like phonograph, 8-track, record player, or erector set. We ran up to CT to speak at Cliff Lee’s church in Stamford at a ‘Men’s Retreat’ and it was a very eventful weekend.  It started with torrential rain, hail and car accidents, followed by our diesel blowing an oil line on route 287, a tow truck, a 2009 VW Bug loaner from Bernardsville VW in NJ (they were angelic), getting to the meeting on time and ‘10’ men receiving Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior!  Did I hear an Amen?  I spoke Sunday morning on ‘Christ’s Baptism’ and three more men came to Christ and about six men responded for ‘Believer’s Baptism.’  We had lunch with the men from ‘Pacific House’ spent the night at the hotel and left for Bernardsville VW, very ill but our car would not be ready until Wednesday and they said, “Just keep the loaner and they would call us.”

I spent four hours Monday evening in the E.R. at the VA Hospital with what I thought was pneumonia.  After blood tests, x-rays, nebulizer treatments and super antibiotics it turned out to be severe bronchitis and asthma.  Satan was not too happy losing all those children in Stamford, CT and he was letting me know about it. He is the prince of the power of the air and he sent some bad air my way.  Our car was ready Friday, the only day the sun was out, I felt like driving and the roads were dry. The board of Elders at ‘Evangelical Community Church’ in Stamford, CT gave us a special gift to help with the cost of fixing our car which just about covered it. PTL!  There were so many details and miracles on that weekend it would take a chapter to write it all out and you would have to be spiritually blind not to see God’s awesome hand and power working all things out for His glory!  This is only ONE small event that happened in June, there are sooo many more that YOU are all a vital part of every day as YOU pray and hold our Rope taut!  As O.C. said on the 13th  “There is only one thing you can consecrate to God, the right to yourself.”  If you will, “He will make a holy experiment out of you.”  Thank You, Jesus!
